• Texas Venomous Creatures is funded entirely by donations — all school visits, mobile‑exhibit programs, and public classes are provided at no cost to the community

• Live venomous wildlife is never handled under any circumstances. The displayed venomous snakes are advanced robotic museum quality artificial replicas of the local species designed to mimic behaviors and allow very close viewing. We do have some live native insect species contained in zoo quality locked enclosures to teach identification.

A Texas Venomous Creatures school visit delivers a fast, high‑impact learning experience.

1. 20‑Minute Safety Lesson: A concise introduction to Texas venomous and poisonous wildlife, how camouflage conceals threats, how to identify hazards quickly, and what steps to take during an encounter.

2. Small‑Group Exhibit Walkthrough Students enter the mobile exhibit in small groups and explore realistic Texas environments filled with both hazards and harmless look‑alikes. Each item is numbered, and students must decide whether it’s a hazard or non‑hazard based on what they learned.

3. Red‑Light Reveal After each group completes their list, the exhibit lights dim and all true hazards illuminate in red, while harmless items stay dark. Students can clearly see which items they identified correctly, which hazards they overlooked, and the role camouflage played in concealing them.
